The coop's floor measures 4x8. The structure is based on a lean-to, but with four walls and a steeply-pitched roof.


Three nest boxes ought to be enough for our five hens. They have so far sat on top of the boxes and briefly checked out the insides. The girls love to roost on sticks we permanently propped up inside the coop and out. They also enjoy - for the time being - roosting on the roof of the coop, on the open door and on the fence. Soon we will add bird netting over the top.


A chicken wire fence measuring 15x10 surrounds the coop. The girls enjoy the straw-bedded ground inside their yard, but really like to free-range in our backyard and a little into the woods.
